Flash

Well we have been working in flash the last few classes. I'm working on a flash presentation of a influential graphic designer. I have chose Milton Glaser because he is well known as a graphic designer. He made the I love New York logo which is one of his many famous designs.
      As I've been working in flash i am finally getting used to the layers and the timing of how I want my presentation to be. It has to be at least 2mins long. Its a little difficult and confusing to me but I think as I keep working in flash I will get the hang of it. I have at least a min of it done and there is still more to do, I think it will end up being more than 2mins. Well hopefully when I do finish it up I can post it on here so I can show how much I am learning in my graphic design class.

wikis

Well today in my graphic designs class my teacher Mr. Williams had me and my fellow classmates breakup into two different groups. One group going over what a wiki is and what it is used for. An the other group going over podcast what it is and what its used for. I had to do a little research on wiki. I already knew what wikipedia was but I didn't know that there was over 100 different types of wikis. Wiki is an online encyclopedia made up from people like me and you.  Businesses and individuals are finding that wikis have benefits for many different purposes aside from encyclopedias. Wikis are a collection of web pages that are designed to be edited by groups of people.
    When I was in High School if I ever had to do a research paper my teachers would tell me to not use wikipedia because it is not always correct. Of course its not always correct because its basically different opinions of peoples thoughts on certain things.  
    When I was researching on wikis it said that when people keep editing on certain wiki websites the information becomes a little more accurate but it doesn't always mean that its correct. I found that there is all kinds of wikis, including gaming wikis, cooking wikis, even the government has a wiki.
   In this class I find that I still have alot to learn about the internet and graphic designs. So im looking forward to learning more in this class as the months go by.

Why I want to be A Designer

         I am fresh out of high school an starting my career at Keiser University. My name is Jennifer and I am going to Keiser to study computer graphic design and multimedia. When I was in high school I didn't know for sure what I wanted to do.  When11th grade came around I was put in a computer graphic design class and I loved it.  A student from Keiser came to my high school and showed us the program they had for computer graphic design at the college. She passed out cards to me and my classmates and said that if we was intrested to put our number, name, and e-mail down. About a month later I recieved a phone call from Ana Revera asking if I would like to tour the school. I then wast set up to start class august 30th. Now im here on my 3rd day of class learning how to blog. The teacher is great and there is only 7 students all together in this class. I am hoping to be able to get the 1 on 1 time that I need when I have questions about the class. I am looking forward to this class here at Keiser.
         I would like to design because I would get to use my mind and make my ideas come true. There is also alot of jobs with the experience of graphic design. With the economy being bad it would be a great opportunity. Although there is alot of people studying on computers and graphic design and all the technology coming out, theres not that many out of my family who has went to college and done what they wanted to do.  I want to be successful in life and have a good paying job. I wanna be able to have a family and be able to support my kids and give them things that I never had when I was growing up. I wanna wake up everyday wanting to go to a job that I love to do. I can't draw at all but I believe I have artistic skills somewere in my mind were I could bring my ideas to life either on the computer or pictures.  I don't know everything I need to know about graphic design but my mind is ready to learn what I need to know to make me successful.
